Third-row passengers benefit from reclining rear seats with available power, but the third row also gets one of Sequoia’s key features: a “sliding third-row and cargo storage system”.
The first-ever unit features a third row of sliders with six inches of adjustment. The third row can also be adjusted to fill different positions that can be installed in different storage units depending on the conditions that provide for adjustment.

There are different trim levels for the Sequoia convertible. The ‘Supersonic Red’ car you see above is in full, top-of-the-line capstone trim, but the one we’re most interested in is the Sequoia TRD Pro below.
Look at the invisible. The TRD Pro comes with FOX shocks, an inch-long skid plate, a rear locking system, a different road mode, traction control and hill control. It also gets a TRD sunroof, a giant TOYOTA grille, 18-inch wheels and a large 14-inch infotainment screen that come on all but the base Sequoia.

Like most large SUVs without large wheels, the 2023 Toyota Sequoia’s cargo space is limited with a third-row transmission.
The Toyota Sequoia enters its third generation with the 2023 model year, with an all-new design. Hybrid power is now standard, and the thirsty V8 used earlier is gone. The usual understatement of Toyota’s SUV size is still there, but the Sequoia is a big improvement.
The second-generation Sequoia was launched in 2008, so changes were much needed to make Toyota’s best-selling large SUV. The new design brings changes to the look, more interior space and hybrid powertrain as standard.

The first thing one notices is the design of the Sequoia 2023. It’s now a bit more rugged and designed to match Toyota’s pickup style rather than presenting it as a small sports utility vehicle. The Sequoia is a large SUV and it would be ridiculous to pretend it isn’t. Instead, Toyota’s design team seemed intent on emphasizing the Sequoia’s truck roots.
The headlights, grill size and bodywork are very similar to those found on the Tundra. The trapezoidal section is created by a simple and cutting fender that dominates the sides, while a strong, straight cut at the bottom of the door is focused on the ground floor.
Inside, the Sequoia also takes a lot of notes from the Tundra, with larger and more spacious seats as a theme. However, the seats in the Sequoia are designed for comfort, with a comfortable feel for the occupants – especially in the front or optional second-row captain’s chairs. However, the third line still feels like an afterthought.
Like many Toyota SUVs of the past, the Sequoia’s third row isn’t very comfortable and offers a lot of valuable space in the cargo area. Where they used to roll over the sides, like in the Land Cruiser and LX 450, they now sit just 20cm above the cargo area, blocking what would otherwise be a full cargo floor. Kids and older adults can sit in it, but most people won’t enjoy hanging out in the passenger seat for long.
The Standard 2023 Toyota Sequoia Model Is Absolutely Loaded
Big changes are also coming under the hood. A 3.4-liter V6 is mated to an electric motor and a 10-speed manual transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard on most models and four-wheel drive is optional. The TRD Pro test model included 4WD as standard. This configuration is the same as the iForce Max powertrain of the Tundra, with the Sequoia also sharing the same chassis platform. The hybrid engine produces 437 hp (326 kW) and 538 lb-ft (729.5 Nm) of torque.
The electric motor helps the electric power to come to life quickly and pay off in the normal times associated with the turbo engine. They’ve also improved efficiency, boosting the Sequoia to 9.8L/100km on the highway and an impressive 11.2L/100km in the city. These are significant improvements over the teenage mpg returns of the previous generation Sequoia.
